Questions
What happens if I go over the Free limit?
You'll be asked to upgrade before adding another item past 25 — nothing already in your vault is hidden, locked, or deleted for being over the limit.
What happens if I stop paying?
Your account drops to Free at the end of the billing period. Every item you already have stays exactly where it is — you just can't add new ones past 25 until you're back under the limit or upgrade again.
Can I get my data out if I leave?
Yes, on any plan. Export an encrypted Kanical backup, or a CSV for other password managers, whenever you want — leaving Kanical Vault is never harder than staying.
Can you read my passwords?
No. Your master password derives two separate keys in your browser — one that encrypts your data, one that proves who you are to the server. We only ever receive the second one. See the security page for the exact derivation.
Do you support single sign-on outside the Team plan?
Not currently — SSO is a Team-plan feature, since it is a per-organization setup rather than a per-person one.
